CCTV Case Study 2 - IP technology

The Problem

One client (who has asked not to be named) has nearly 30 sites distributed around South Wales and the West of England, each of which handles cash on a daily basis and employs hundreds of employees working a number of different shifts throughout the day.  There was a considered risk to the employees of a “hold up” or even staff related theft.  There were also occasions where some sites might only be manned by one or two staff, and therefore ongoing Health & Safety risk issues.

The Solution

AVA have installed a system of  IP Megapixel cameras which are able to monitor the cash offices, fuel stores and general traffic areas.  Each has its own local storage capacity, but has a low bandwidth link to the organisations central server with management software.

End User Benefits

Our tender was significantly lower than the traditional CCTV companies, as we were able to use the existing network for our cabling.  Another result of this is the fact that we were able to complete the installation in a fraction of the time using fewer cameras because of the megapixel technology
.
The security manager is now able to view, replay and intricately analyse footage from any of the sites off the simple to operate user interface.  As new sites come on board, or existing sites change, then the inbuilt flexibility of the solution allows simple and cost effective expansion or alterations.  This also reduces the ongoing maintenance of the system.
