Integrated Access Control, IP CCTV and Security Alarm system for the new London Head Office for a PLC.

AVA Security & Communications are delighted to have been chosen to design and install the security measures required for the First Group PLC new HQ in central London. It was important from the beginning that the offices were to have the highest levels of security to protect their intellectual property and assets.

Requirement

The system requirement was for a fully integrated IP CCTV system to cover in perfect detail the movement of staff and visitors around the building.  An IP controlled access control system was also installed across seven doors to control the movement of personnel and also provide audit information of who had gone where and when, in the event of a serious attack.  An out of hours Intruder alarm was also fitted which covered every doorway and office within the building.  This was designed to ensure the highest level of Insurance rating and operated with an immediate policed response over dual path monitoring.

Solution

AVA Security used the PELCO Sarix range of mega-pixel cameras linked to the PELCO Network Video Recorder and Video Management Software.  These have produced crystal clear image quality recorded locally for months.  AVA had the capability to provide the IT switches and network connections for onward remote viewing by the Directos at First Plc.

The Access Control element provided a full Read in and Read Out secure system, with AVA providing and printing the ID badges for all staff which doubled up as their door pass cards.  The system is fully networked and linked to the CCTV for recorded images of every door “transaction”.  Each door is set up to enable thousands of activations in the event that the Network was to fail.

Working with a main contractor can always have some logistical issues however we were once again able to commission the system on time and within budget.
